The prep basketball season is still young, but, if first-week results are any indication, this weekend’s Demon Invitational features a strong field.Staff ReportThe prep basketball season is still young, but, if first-week results are any indication, this weekend’s Demon Invitational features a strong field.On the boys side, the four teams have a combined 7-1 record so far , with Class 5A Fruita Monument the only team to drop a game. The four girls teams are also solid, with a combined 5-2 mark.The round-robin tournament starts with four games, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday. Saturday features a four-game set starting at 9 a.m. and another four games starting at 1 p.m. All games will be at Glenwood Springs High School.Host Glenwood Springs (1-0) is the only Class 4A squad on the boys side. The Demons, however, should be tested not only by Fruita Monument (2-1) but a pair of solid 3A teams in Faith Christian (3-0) and Holy Family (1-0).The Glenwood boys open the tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Faith Christian. On Saturday the Demons face Holy Family at 10:30 a.m. and Fruita Monument at 6:15 p.m.The Demons girls squad seeks its first victory of the season after dropping a 59-49 decision to Montrose in the season opener on Saturday.Glenwood (0-1) takes on unbeaten Faith Christian (2-0) at 6 . tonight.
