Demon JV team adds to celebration

The Demon varsity is not the only group celebrating this high school soccer season.

The Glenwood Springs junior varsity, with its season complete, also is celebrating a landmark year.

The Demon JV team wrapped up the season Tuesday night in Steamboat Springs with a 1-1 tie against the Sailors. The tie was the only non-win for the young Demons all season.

They finished the year 11-0-1.

“The really played as a team and respected each other as team members,” said Tiffanie Miller, the Glenwood Springs JV soccer coach.

“I think their attitude was important,” Miller said, adding that the JV team received contributions from everyone on the roster.

“They all put in a huge amount of effort. They were really easy to work with,” Miller added.

The JV roster for the Demons this year included Hallie Kuhn, Kelsey Sos, Kaleen Fisher, Carlyn Farquhar, Jacque Romero, Chenin Kreiger, Amanda Whiting, Megan Cerise, Emily Granato, Michelle McReynolds, Amy Grosholz, Jenni Duffy, Kaitlyn Otto and Jessica Boat.

Miller said the team set the goal of going undefeated at the start of the season. And, she said, the players reminded each other of that goal before every match.

“They’ve worked really hard,” said Glenwood Springs head coach Steve White.

“They’ve been real coachable all season and that’s a key thing,” White said of the players responding to the coaching philosophy at GSHS.

“The JV team is definitely developing that Demon tradition of good play and an expectation to win,” White said.
