Demons’ Axtell, Maner earn all-league honors
Two members of the Glenwood Springs High School boys lacrosse team earned all-league recognition when the all-Mountain League lacrosse team was announced recently.
Glenwood senior Tripp Axtell was awarded first-team consideration, and another senior, Josiah Maner, was named to the second team.
Axtell, a defenseman for the Demons, was the team captain this season and its leader in ground balls. Maner, an attacker, was one of the Demons’ biggest scoring threats. The Demons finished the season 2-13 overall and 0-9 in the Mountain League, with their wins coming against Ridgeview Academy in early April.
Mike Goerne of Aspen was named the Mountain League’s coach of the year after helping to lead the Skiers to a tie with Steamboat Springs for the league title.
