Demons eliminated from District 7 Tournament play

Somebody goofed. An error, either mathematical or on keyboard, had the Glenwood Springs High School volleyball team in the postseason on Monday. But, upon further review, the numbers are against the Demons extending their 2006 volleyball season.Information released Monday by the Colorado High School Activities Association had the Demons earning a wild-card berth to this weekend’s District 7 tournament in Eagle-Vail. But that information, released on the CHSAA’s Web site, was incorrect.Glenwood Springs High School athletic director Steve Cable informed the Post Independent Tuesday that Moffat County, rather than Glenwood, earned the wild-card spot. Further calculations revealed that Moffat County held an advantage over the Demons in points against a common league opponent. The Bulldogs enter district play as the No. 6 seed. They open pool play against No. 1 seed Battle Mountain, then face Mullen, the No. 4 seed.Glenwood finished the year with a 5-9 mark in league play and 7-12 overall.
