Demons host football playoff game today

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The Glenwood Springs High School football team is back in the playoffs. They are undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 3A. Over the past two seasons, the Demons have been unbeatable in the regular season, winning 20 consecutive games. The Demons’ only loss in two years was a gut-wrenching 28-27 loss to Sterling in the first round of last year’s playoffs.

Today is about redemption and about moving toward the ultimate prize in high school football: A state championship.

Glenwood (10-0) will host Roosevelt (6-4) today in this year’s first-round playoff game.

The Demons have been dominate this season but after the shocking loss to Sterling last year, they know that anything can happen in the playoffs.

Led by a talented senior class, including quarterback Dakota Stonehouse, running back Michael Hudson, wide receiver Kevin Screen and linebacker Jordan Ciani, the Demons are looking to bring another state football championship back to Glenwood.

The last Glenwood title was in 1980.

Glenwood coach Rocky Whitworth is looking to take a second Roaring Fork Valley team to the state title game. In 1977 he led the Roaring Fork Rams to the Class 2A state title.

Today’s game will be at Stubler Memorial Field with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
