Demons sweep Bears

RIFLE – Amber Sutherland tallied 17 kills and Bridget Roseman added seven aces as the Glenwood Springs Demons volleyball team earned it’s 11th consecutive sweep with a 25-10, 25-7, 25-15 victory over rival Rifle.

Glenwood, which remains undefeated at 9-0 in the Class 4A Western Slope League (14-0 overall), has won 33 consecutive games and can clinch the league title with a victory over Battle Mountain on Thursday.

“We’re getting more of our fine tuning down and working on the little things more than the big picture,” Glenwood head coach Denise Greene said. “Everyone played really well tonight.”

Leanna Lawson finished with 10 kills and Celeste Cashel had 33 assists in the match.

With the loss, Rifle drops to 2-8 (3-13).
