Durango beats Cortez, Demons slide into playoffs

After losing to Eagle Valley 2-1 on Wednesday night, Glenwood needed some help to make the playoffs and on Thursday night, the Demons got it.Durango beat Montezuma-Cortez 2-1, knocking the Panthers out of postseason contention and putting the Demons in.Glenwood (6-8-1 overall) will receive the fifth and final playoff spot from the Class 4A Western Slope Region. Battle Mountain, Montrose, Steamboat Springs and Eagle Valley will also be representing the Western Slope in the playoffs. The Colorado High School Activities Association will release the 32-team state bracket on Sunday, listing the seedings and first-round match-ups. The first-round games will be played on Tuesday.
