Durango takes honors at Palisade Invite

BATTLEMENT MESA – In what was the last tune-up for most boys’ golf teams before the regional tournament next week in Steamboat, Durango posted the low score Wednesday at the Palisade Invitational high school golf tournament held at the Battlement Mesa Golf Course.

Durango won the tournament with a team score of 228, followed by Grand junction at 231 and Montezuma-Cortez and Montrose tied at 236. Steamboat Springs was fifth with a total of 240.

Rifle, coming off a win at its home invite on Tuesday, posted a 244, while Roaring Fork and Glenwood finished at 247 and 271, respectively.

Individually, Shea Sena of Montezuma-Cortez had the low day with 70, while Durango’s Andrew Crowell and Grand Junctions Eric Winder rounded out the top three with 73 and 74, respectively.

Glenwood’s top players were Jacob Zeiman at 87 and Corey Brown with 90.
