Eagle Valley golf tournament goes to Steamboat Springs

GYPSUM, Colorado – The gauntlet that is the boys prep golf season continued Thursday at Cotton Ranch Golf Course in Gypsum, the site of Eagle Valley High School’s home tourney.Of area schools, only Rifle made the trip, albeit without their top players. Scoring highest for the Bears was Hunter Finger (110). Chris Kuester shot a 113 and David Sours had a 115.Battle Mountain’s Cameron Brown and Steamboat Springs’ Kaelen Gunderson finished in a tie atop the leaderboard, each carding a 75 on the par-72 course.Steamboat Springs prevailed in the team standings in Gypsum, the team’s three best scorers combining on a 239. Battle Mountain took second (245) and Eagle Valley third (246).Glenwood Springs and Coal Ridge were scheduled to be at Thursday’s tournament, but neither ended up making the trip.
