Events benefit Rippy scholarship

Whether your game is soccer or golf, Colorado Mountain College has you covered next weekend.

And the cost of the fun will benefit the Stuart Rippy Athletic Scholarship, helping out the young CMC Eagles men’s and women’s soccer teams.

The CMC Stuart Rippy Classic golf tournament is Friday, Aug. 12. The event includes a buffet luncheon. A silent auction is scheduled for 1 p.m. The best-ball scramble begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. The team sign-up fee is $360.

On Saturday the action shifts to the soccer fields at Gates Soccer Park on the CMC-Spring Valley campus. The Dog Days of Summer 3-on-3 soccer tournament offers age divisions for U10 and up, split into male, female and coed categories. The tournament starts at 8 a.m. and the championship games are expected to go off around 4 p.m. The team sign-up fee is $160.

There are also combination hole/field sponsorships available.

Proceeds from both events go toward the Stuart Rippy Athletic Scholarship, which is available to student-athletes playing on CMC’s men’s and women’s soccer teams.

For information or registration for either event, contact CMC athletic director Steve White, 947-8253;
