Five area skiers qualify for Junior Olympics
Five area skiers have qualified for the Junior Olympics to be held March 19-22 in Steamboat Springs.
In the boys race, three members of the Sunlight Ski Team qualified in the J4 class.
Matthew Snyder was the top qualifier with the 32nd spot, while Connor Riley and Dakota Stonehouse were ranked 36th and 46th, respectively. Glenwood Springs Middle School student James Schindler, who races for the Aspen Ski Club, qualified with a ranking of 35.
The top 49 boys in the Rocky Mountain Division qualified for the Junior Olympics.
In the girls race, the top 33 qualify and Whitney Setterberg is the lone Sunlight Ski Team representative. Setterberg finished the season ranked 29th.
The Rocky Mountain Division racers will compete against skiers from the Central Division at the Junior Olympics.
