Five CMC soccer players named to All-Region team

Five Colorado Mountain College men’s soccer Eagles, including co-captains Brian Beddall and Max Von Rabenau, were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region 18 team for the Scenic West Athletic Conference.Beddall, the defensive leader of the Eagles, is from Apple Valley, Wash., and is all-region for a second straight year. He will graduate from CMC in December with an associate’s degree and hopes to go on to play soccer and study at Mesa State College.Von Rabenau is also all-region for a second consecutive season. The sophomore midfielder, a Chicago native, had his season cut short by injury but still made enough of an impact with his time on the pitch to land the honor. Von Rabenau hopes to transfer to a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference soccer program after his spring graduation.Cory McGrath of Glenwood Springs, as a forward, led the Eagles in goals and points and secured an all-region selection.Chris Raines, a 6-foot-4 goalkeeper from Aurora, had a huge impact on the 2007 Eagles success, manning the net. He played more than 1,000 minutes in net and made enough technical saves to catch the attention of the regional coaches charged with deciding the all-region squad.Chad Bauman, a transfer student from Colorado State University and former Palisade High School player, spent just about every minute of every game on the pitch in making the all-region team.
