Four CMC soccer players honored

The stature of Colorado Mountain College’s men’s soccer program is continuing its upwards trend in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.In a vote among conference coaches during last weekend’s SWAC men’s championship game at North Idaho College, four Eagles starters earned first team, all-conference/all-region honors.CMC players chosen were sophomores Jorge Alvarado, Jake Fassett, Max Von Rabenau and Brian Beddall. Alvarado, who moved to forward this year after playing a number of positions as a freshman, prepped at Rifle High School.Fassett and Von Rabenau are from Park City, Utah, and Chicago, respectively. Beddall, a defender for the 2006 Eagles, is from Apple Valley, Wash.In the championship game, CMC concluded its season with a 6-1 loss to North Idaho, the 2005 SWAC Men’s champion.Von Rabenau scored the Eagles’ lone goal early in the second half. It reduced the host Cardinals’ lead to two goals. After the score, Fassett had a near miss five minutes later.
