Gauthier sinks hole-in-one to win $10K

The Glenwood Grizzly Youth Hockey association held its eighth annual golf tournament Saturday, and Roger Gauthier came up with the biggest shot of the day.

Gauthier, a former Grizzly Hockey player, made the most of the tournament on the 157-yard par 3 third hole, acing his tee shot for a cool $10,000 cash. In the fore-some was Roger, his mother Kim Gauthier, Grizzly coach Dennis Winchell and Grizzly director T.K. Kwiatkowski.

Kwiatkowski, also tournament director, said of the ace, “In all my years golfing, I have never been witness to a hole-in-one, ever. … To have this happen in our group is exciting, let alone the fact it was for $10K.”

Kwiatkowski also said, “The Glenwood Springs Golf Club was a great host, and the return of the event to the ‘locals course’ was welcomed by everyone involved. We are looking forward to coming back next year and growing our event.”

The event was held at the Glenwood Springs Golf Club, locally known as “The Hill.” The tournament was won by local golfing legends Bryan Avery, Tim Cota, and brothers Michael and Billet Porter.
