Gendreau pick, Jacob TD run seals another win for Demons
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Nate Gendreau had a fourth quarter interception that led to a Luke Jacob touchdown run as Glenwood Springs scored a 17-7 win over visiting Delta on Friday.
The Demons jumped out in front just before halftime at Stubler Memorial Field, with Jacob connecting with Trey Fox on a 40-yard TD pass.
Delta tied it up in the third before Demons kicker Clay Hawkins drilled a 30-yard field goal to put Glenwood up 10-7.
Gendreau’s pick came with roughly five minutes to go in the fourth, setting the stage for the game-winning drive.
The Demons improved to 2-2 overall and to 2-0 in the 3A Western Slope League with the win. Delta is now 1-2 overall and 0-2 in league.
BRUSH, Colorado – James Martinez picked off a pass and returned it for a TD as Rifle held on for a 33-25 win at Brush on Friday.
The Bears ran for more than 400 yards in the win, with Martinez, Joe Burgess and Tyrel Lenard doing the lion’s share of the work.
Rifle picked off a pair of passes in the fourth quarter to seal their first win of the season, and the first win under first-year head coach Ryan Sulkowski.
The Bears (1-2) resume 3A Western Slope League play with a trip to Delta next week.
Brush dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
PEACH VALLEY, Colorado – Crockett Williams tossed three TD passes as Coal Ridge beat up on Rangely 32-6 on Friday.
Williams found Cody Walls with scoring strikes of 17 and 44 yards and he hit Robby Moore with a 19-yard TD reception as the Titans built up a 19-0 lead by halftime and never looked back.
Colby Fauser added a 50-yard TD run and Arion Gross a 2-yarder for Coal Ridge (2-1).
Dillon Schelling led the Titan ground game in the yardage department with 122 yards on just two carries.
Coal Ridge kicks off 2A WSL play next week with a trip to Cedaredge.
PARACHUTE, Colorado – Grand Valley held off Hayden 28-17 on Friday.
The Cardinals improved to 3-0 with the win and open 2A WSL play at Gunnison next week.
No further statistics from the Hayden game were available at press time.
