Girls golfers take state by storm: Bears, Demons come up big

Talk about making the Western Slope proud.

Loren Forney’s second-day score of 78 vaulted the sophomore to a fourth-place finish at the May 2008 girls golf state meet, and right behind her in fifth place was Glenwood Springs junior Michelle Stripp to make for quite the Western Slope punch at Rolling Hills Country Club in Golden.

Forney, who finished fifth at state as a freshman, shot a 160 and Stripp a 164.

Both Rifle and Glenwood Springs sent three golfers to the meet and, beyond the top-five individual finishes, Glenwood took third in the team standings behind a score of 541 for the two-round tourney.
