Glenwood finishes ninth at Palisade

The Glenwood Springs girls golf team finished ninth at the Palisade Invitational golf tournament, but got some solid performances from in the first action after spring vacation.

Ali Tonozzi and junior Jessica Snyder both shot personal tournament bests with scores of 109 at Lincoln Park Golf Course, while senior captain Michelle Whiddon posted a 116.

Tonozzi had some tremendous moments on and around the greens, according to head coach Kathy Whiting. The senior sunk a chip shot on one hole and dropped a 20-foot putt on another hole.

Grand Junction won the tournament with a 257, followed by Eagle Valley and Durango with 264 and 278, respectively. Glenwood’s team score was 334.

Grand Junction’s Andrea Butler was the top individual player with a round of 79. Kristin Walla of Aspen High School shot 83 for second place.

Glenwood travels to Fruita for the 14-team Wildcat Invitational at Adobe Creek Golf Course today. The tournament is slated to start at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
