Glenwood girls play at Rifle to kick off basketball weekend

The high school basketball weekend kicks off early with a key game in the girls 4A Western Slope League tonight.

Glenwood Springs will play at Rifle in a game critical to both teams. The girls varsity game tonight is set for approximately 7:30 p.m.

The big game will be broadcast locally on KMTS-FM, with veteran announcers Ron Milhorn and Jack Jabbour behind the microphones.



The Rifle girls are 6-2 in Western Slope League play, behind only league-leader Moffat County (9-0).

The Glenwood girls are 4-4 in conference play, trailing Moffat County, Rifle and Palisade. The Demons are ahead of Steamboat Springs, Delta and Battle Mountain.



The Glenwood and Rifle girls played on Jan. 10 in Glenwood Springs with the Bears winning 46-34.

The prep schedule heats up on Friday when Rifle takes on Battle Mountain in a home-and-home doubleheader. The Rifle boys will host Battle Mountain in a game to decide the Western Slope League lead.

The Rifle girls will play at Battle Mountain.

The Roaring Fork teams also return to action on Friday when the Rams travel to Gunnison for girls and boys games.

Then on Saturday, Glenwood will take on Battle Mountain in a home-and-home series. The Glenwood girls will host the Huskies on Saturday night.

The Glenwood boys will play at Battle Mountain in Eagle-Vail on Saturday night.
