Glenwood girl’s soccer wins U19 Steamboat tournament
Competing at the U19 Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament in Steamboat last weekend, the Glenwood Springs girl’s soccer team came out on top in the 6-team tournament, going 2-0-1 for a tournament-best 21 points, topping SSC Navy Steamboat Soccer C and the Colorado Rush Nero 99 in the B Bracket, as well as Skyline Select, Broomfield 98 Girls and the Riverside Renegades in A Bracket.
The Glenwood group scored 4 goals and allowed just 1 goal in three games under the guidance of coach Evan Segal, who served as the Glenwood junior varsity coach this spring.
Goalie Abby Scruton allowed just 1 goal in the four games, while forward Nina Scruton dished out three assists.
Defensive back Devin McSwain scored two goals for Glenwood, while midfielder Summer McSwain, forward Paige Lilly and midfielder Sarah Helm scored one goal each. Helm added one assist for Glenwood during the tournament.
Also part of Glenwood’s run through the tournament was defensive back Celia Scruton, defensive back Ashley Weir, midfielder Erin Hassel, defensive back Brooke Hunter, midfielder Chelise Moore, forward Malia Baltzer and midfielder Tate Lilly.

Rifle, Palisade out-wrestle Glenwood at Demon triangular
Rifle High School wrestling won its matchup with Glenwood Springs Tuesday at the Glenwood triangular, while the Palisade Bulldogs took down both local teams.
