Glenwood hockey products heading to USA national championships
Glenwood natives Hunter Howe and Logan Radtke, two products of the Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association and the Aspen Leafs program, are heading to the USA Hockey National Championships from April 6-10 in Scottsdale, Arizona. They played key roles for the Colorado Evolution 15U team, which captured the Rocky Mountain Division Tier 1 title last weekend.
Led by head coaches Sergei Bautin and Vassiliy Larchenko, the Evolution topped the Colorado Thunderbirds 7-3 in the Rocky Mountain Regional Championship Game on March 19.
Prior to reaching the championship game, the Evolution topped the Arizona Bobcats 13-2, before then defeating the Dallas Stars hockey program 5-4.
Taking on the Thunderbirds in the third game of the weekend, the Evolution won 6-5 before topping the Thunderbirds again in the championship game to clinch a spot in the national championships.
Howe made the move to Denver this season to play for the Evolution after spending a majority of his youth in the valley playing for the Grizzlies and the Leafs.
