The boys and girls basketball teams at Glenwood Springs High School have something else to celebrate this week.

Both teams were ranked in the Associated Press Colorado Class 4A basketball polls, which were released on Monday.

The Glenwood boys (8-0 overall, 4-0 Class 4A Western Slope League) were ranked sixth in the poll. The Demons earned two first-place voted in the poll, which was more than top-ranked Thompson Valley (7-1) when it opened atop the poll.

The Glenwood girls (7-0, 4-0) opened even further up the poll at No. 4. State-power Broomfield (8-0) is the top-ranked Class 4A girls team.

Both Demons squads won league games this past Tuesday against Battle Mountain in Edwards. The polls, released prior to Glenwood’s wins, were conducted by a panel of sports reporters and broadcasters across Colorado.

Glenwood continues league play at home Friday against Delta.
