Glenwood lacrosse falls to Summit on the road

Looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s tough 13-2 loss to Vail Mountain in a snowstorm on the road, the Glenwood Springs Demons lacrosse team came up short Thursday afternoon against the Summit Tigers on the road, falling by a score of 16-9.

The Demons played a great second quarter against the Tigers to pull to within three goals, 7-4, at the half, but the Tigers came out in force in the third quarter to pull away for the win.

“We showed up again in the fourth quarter, but it was too late,” Glenwood assistant head coach Jason Rusby said. “Same story as of late, but when our guys figure out how to play a full game, we will surprise some teams in this league.”

In the loss, senior Ben Liotta scored four goals for Glenwood, while junior Zach Johnson and senior Sam Liotta added two goals each. Senior Shane Beckley capped off the scoring for Glenwood with one goal.

Sitting at 1-5 on the season, the Demons will travel to Battle Mountain next Tuesday for a matchup with the Huskies at 6 p.m.

Glenwood will look to snap a four-game losing streak on Tuesday at Battle Mountain.
