Glenwood level 5 girls win home gymnastics meet

The Glenwood Gymnastics Academy made the most of its home meet on Sunday as the level 5 girls team earned first place in the Father’s Day Invitational.

Catherine Chenault paced the team, notching a first, a second and a third. Chenault scored a 9.3 to win the vault as Glenwood swept the event. Corey Gera and Ashley Ayers were second and third, respectively.

The same trio had top-four finishes in the all-around with Chenault placing second, followed by Ayers and Gera in third and fourth, respectively.



Taylor Chenault won the floor exercise event with a score of 9.15 and Gera placed third. In the uneven bars Gera was second and Catherine Chenault placed third.

Following Glenwood in the team scores were Grand Junction, Upward Athletics of Eagle and Rifle.



On the boys side, Josh Berland of Evergreen Gymnastics dominated the level 7 competition with victories in all six events and the top all-around score of 55.50. Evergreen took team honors, followed by Glenwood and Grand Junction in second and third, respectively.

Glenwood’s Cody McAdams was the only boys level 5 competitor, but had a solid effort on the vault with a score of 8.80.

All the Glenwood Gymnastics Academy have qualified for the State E.A.G.L.E.S Meet, which will be held in Evergreen June 27-29.
