Glenwood nets 6-0 girls soccer victory

RIFLE — Jenna Brown finished with a pair of goals and an assist for the Glenwood Springs High School girls soccer team, which took a big lead early on an improved Rifle Bears squad on their way to a 6-0 Class 4A Western Slope League victory on Tuesday.

Four other players each scored a goal and Carol Stepniewski contributed two assists for the Demons (4-1-0 overall and in league play), who held a 3-0 halftime lead. Dani Benzel, Natasha Jordan, Laura McDermott and Deatra Glock each added goals for Glenwood.

“Rifle is definitely an improved team, for sure,” Glenwood coach Steve White said. “My compliments to them for playing hard and staying positive throughout.”



Bella Diaz netted five saves in goal and Haley Armstrong added an assist for Glenwood.

The Demons continue league play Thursday at Summit before returning home to play what could wind up being a crucial league match on Saturday against league favorite Battle Mountain.
