Glenwood Open tied for first heading into today’s round

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. ” After one day of play at the Glenwood Open, Blake Hull and Michael A. Smith are in a tie for first place in the championship flight. Both shot a two-under par 68 at the end of 18 holes at The Hill.

Hull played in the Glenwood Pro-Am on Friday as a member of Redlands Mesa Golf Course’s team from Grand Junction, helped the Redlands squad take second overall. Smith is a Rifle resident and a Glenwood Open regular.

Rifle resident and Roaring Fork boys basketball coach Roger Walters finished just one stroke behind Hull and Smith to finish day one in second.

Roaring Fork graduate A.J. Joiner and Will Logsdon are in a two-way lock for third with scores of 71 each.

Over 100 golfers are vying for the title in the tournament, which will resume today with 18 more holes. The fifth flight will tee off at 8 a.m., followed by the fourth, third, second, first and then championship flights.
