Glenwood Springs takes second at Ralston
ARVADA – Glenwood Springs cleaned up at Friday’s Ralston Valley Wrestling Duals in Arvada, winning four of its five matches on the day and placing second overall.Seniors Tyler Rossow (171 pounds), Nick Croissant (189) and sophomore Vincent Tsosie (125) led the team, each finishing the tourney 5-0. Seniors Matt Davis (140) and Shea Nickel (215) and juniors Hunter McCallum (145) and Greg Orosz (285) each went 4-1.Glenwood had several wrestlers out sick but were able to plug some holes with other wrestlers. In the past, the Demons haven’t had those extra wrestlers and would have had to forfeit points.Freshmen Michael Sandoval (103) and Lee Jensen (112) went 3-2 and freshman Chris Ayala (152) went 2-3 to help out.Giving up forfeits in four weights (119, 130, 135, 160) impacted the Demons in the only match they lost, to Gateway by five.The Demons will dual Cedaredge on Friday night and then compete in the Cedaredge duals on Saturday.

The Coal Ridge High boys suffered their first 3A Western Slope League loss of the year Thursday night on the road at Gunnison, falling to the defending league champion Cowboys 65-45.
