DENVER ” As a senior, Glenwood’s Tyler Rossow is giving it everything he’s got. It showed in his pin over Fossil Ridge’s Brian Leistikow in the first round of the Class 4A state wrestling tournament on Thursday.

“Every match could be your last and you just want to go out there and do your best ” no regrets,” said the 171-pound Demon.

Rossow prevented any regrets by overcoming a 7-3 deficit and coming back to pin Leistikow at 4:03. The win was huge for Rossow, who was Glenwood’s only wrestler of four to advance to today’s quarterfinals.

“I knew he was done,” Rossow said of his thoughts when he got Leistikow in his grip. “I could hear him breath, I knew I had him then. I needed that to win, so I tried my hardest to get him on his back.”

Rossow (40-4) will hit the mat today with Widefield’s Devin Hightower (32-6), in the quarterfinals that begin at 1 p.m. today.

Lance Tsosie (160), Nick Croissant (189) and Greg Orosz (285) all lost by pin on Thursday, but will be back in action today in the consolation brackets, which will start after the quarterfinals.
