Grand Valley can’t get out of early hole
PARACHUTE – Two early touchdowns by Paonia’s Andy Laminger was too deep a hole for Grand Valley to overcome in a 26-9 Class 1A Western Slope Conference loss to the visiting Eagles on Friday.The Cardinals managed to squeeze in a 22-yard field goal by Richard Gallegos before halftime to slice Paonia’s lead to 14-3 at intermission, only to fall back to a 20-3 deficit after the Eagle scored on a 97-yard run midway in the third period.Derek Maxfield had Grand Valley’s lone touchdown of the game – a 2-yard run – with 9:10 left in the fourth quarter.
