Grizzlies down Eagle squad, 9-0

Playing in their home rink for the first time in nearly a month, the Glenwood Grizzlies Midget hockey team overpowered Eagle, 9-0, in a divisional contest Saturday at the Glenwood Community Center.Shawn McKay, en route to a hat trick, scored the game’s second goal midway in the first period to forge a 2-0 lead. Gray Hussey netted the contest’s first score with 8 minutes, 4 seconds left in the opening stanza.Before the end of the period, Glenwood added to its lead on goals from Trevor French and Kevin Young.Given a 4-0 lead Grizzlies goalie Keefe O’Connor had an easy night. He turned away all seven Eagle shots with ease.French also had a multi-goal game with two scores. Tate Fairbanks had a goal and two assists.Defenseman Marcos Munoz and forward Chris Abshire also scored for Glenwood. The Grizzlies next scheduled game will be Jan. 8 divisional home doubleheader with Oak Creek.
