Grizzlies open season with a bang

The Glenwood Grizzlies opened the 2004-2005 season on a strong note with a pair of wins over Summit in a Midget division doubleheader at the Glenwood Community Center ice rink Saturday.Five Grizzlies different scored in the opener, a 5-1 rout, decided in the second period when Glenwood found the net three times in the period.Derek Young scored the game’s initial goal with eight minutes gone in the first period. Goals by Marcus Bosco, Anthony Ferrara and Sam Scuby put the game out of reach.

Shawn McKay added Glenwood’s final score midway in the third period.Mc Kay was one of two Grizzlies players to bag a hat trick in game two’s 12-0 rout.Teammate Kevin Young scored twice in the second period and put home the final goal of the contest in the third period.

Goalkeepers Robert Benjamin and Keffe O’Conner made nine saves between them while recording the shutout.The Grizzlies have two weeks off until their next scheduled game – a Nov. 20 home doubleheader against Kremmling.
