Grizzly hockey teams ready for CDYHL playoffs
All Glenwood Springs Grizzlies teams will be competing in league playoffs this coming weekend throughout the state of Colorado.
The Midget Major A 18U team will compete in Denver against Telluride, Arvada and Hyland Hills, while both of Glenwood’s Bantam 14U teams will compete in Glenwood, with the Bantam A team taking on Aspen and the Bantam B team taking on West Elk in the opening round.
The Grizzly Pee Wee B team, although winning the regular season league title with a record of 16-2-0, unfortunately is not eligible for playoffs due to league rules. All three Squirt teams (B/C/C) will travel to Eagle to take on Telluride, Vail and Telluride, respectively.
The playoffs are double elimination format with first round games occurring on Friday. From there, schedules are all based upon results from previous round results.
“We are very excited for the upcoming weekend, and this is the first time in the history of Grizzly Hockey all eligible teams have qualified for the playoffs,” Grizzly Hockey Executive Director TK Kwiatkowski said. “Also, with the support of the league (CDYHL) and the city of Glenwood Springs, we have the opportunity to host the league playoffs in Glenwood Springs.”
Games in Glenwood Springs start at 3 p.m. Friday and go until 9 p.m. The action starts bright and early Saturday at 7:30 a.m. with a full day of Bantam hockey action going into the evening. Championship games are at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. For more information, visit http://www.GrizzlyHockey.com.
