GSMS 7th grade boys win hoops title

As the Glenwood Springs Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team was busy rolling to the 8th grade championship in Parachute over Aspen, the GSMS 7th grade team was on its way to a championship of its own, beating the rival Rifle Bears in Aspen for the 7th grade championship, giving Glenwood a sweep of the middle school boys basketball championships.

The Cougars’ 7th grade team defeated Aspen in the first round of the playoffs, before then defeating Basalt in the semifinals, setting up the showdown with Rifle.

Members of the team are: Jackson Aguirre, Jacob Sims, Garrett Excelburt, Dylan Nolan, Briggs Walters, Argeny Renteria, Sim Wenger, Luis Venegas, and Shai Bello. Coaches were Trent Halligan, Talon Halligan, and Trystan Halligan. Managers were Madison Stewart and Bailey Winder.
