Hayden downs Grand Valley

PARACHUTE – The Hayden Tigers put a dent in Grand Valley’s Class 1A playoff hopes with a 26-0 shutout win over the host Cardinals in a conference game for both teams Friday.Hayden took the lead halfway into the first quarter and never relinquished control, adding scores in each of the game’s remaining periods.Justin Busch had 39 yards rushing in four carries to lead the Cardinals. Derek Maxfield had three catches for a team-high 71 yards.Volleyball The Cardinals got their fifth win of the season Friday night, defeating the Hayden Tigers (1-9) in four games (25-19, 17-25, 25-25, 25-18) in Parachute.Grand Valley (5-11) will travel to Collbran on Oct. 22 for its final match of the 2005 regular season against Plateau Valley. The 2A District 5 tournament will take place Oct. 28-29 at Paonia High School.
