Hoffman notches second straight three-goal game

BASALT ” Maddie Hoffman scored three goals for the second straight game, and the Basalt girls soccer team won 7-0 for the second time in three days with a Class 3A Western Slope League victory over Colorado Rocky Mountain School Saturday.

Hoffman scored the game’s first three goals and the Longhorns were up 4-0 by halftime to put the game out of reach.

“This was a pretty good game for us to roll a lot of our subs in and everyone got a lot of playing time,” Basalt head coach Chris Woods said. “We’re pretty confident and all the girls are playing pretty well. We’re starting to play our game.”

Brittany Pollock added a goal and three assists and Ukare Sano notched a two-point game with a goal and an assist.

Autumn Caughern, typically Basalt’s goalie, scored off a corner kick and Shannon Hutton also scored for the Longhorns.

Darbi Scherer earned the shutout in goals for Basalt.

The Longhorns remain undefeated at 6-0 in the WSL (7-1 overall), while CRMS drops to 0-7.

Thursday ” Glenwood 3, Delta 1

CEDAREDGE ” Senior Kaitlyn Otto tallied a pair of goals to lead the Glenwood Springs High School girls soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Delta County in a Class 4A Western Slope League contest here Thursday.

Abby Willman notched the Demons’ other goal.

With the victory Glenwood improves to 3-4-1 in Western Slope League play (3-6-1 overall). Delta County drops to 0-8 (1-10).

Glenwood’s next contest is Tuesday at home against Rifle.
