Basalt High School continued its domination of the Class 3A Western Slope League with five players earning all-WSL first-team honors, including senior Ashley Eaton who garnered the league’s top individual honors.

Chris Woods, in his first year as Basalt’s head coach, and Eaton were named by the league’s coaches as the WSL Coach and Player of the Year, respectively.

In winning the WSL title with an 10-0 mark, Woods piloted the Longhorns to 14-2 overall and fashioned a 13-game winning streak before being knocked out of the 3A State Tournament with a 1-0 semifinal loss.

Eaton was one of the state’s top scorers with 15 goals and 17 assists. Fellow Longhorns Brittany Pollock, Shannon Hutton and Ukare Sano, all seniors, and sophomore Maddie Hoffman were also first-teamers with Eaton.

Three Roaring Fork players – Tarn Udall, Erin Young and Megan Ziegel – were selected to the 19-member first team, along with Colorado Rocky Mountain School’s Caitlyn Hague and Hanna Farrar.

Six more area players made honorable mention, including goalie Autumn Caughern, Maria Jacobsen and Amanda Schmidt of Basalt. Roaring Fork’s Annie Leslie and Taylor Wagner also earned honorable mention, as did Beda Calhoun of CRMS.
