Kelley advances to 2nd round of state junior match play golf tourney
Competing at the girl’s Colorado Junior State Match Play Golf Championships Monday at Black Bear Golf Club in Parker, Roaring Fork junior Lisa Kelley — who competes for the Glenwood Springs girl’s golf team in the spring — advanced to the second round of the tournament, where she’ll match up with No. 1 seed Amy Chitkoksoong of Grandview High School, who happened to win the tournament two years ago.
Chitkoksoong won the 5A state championship this past season for the Wolves as a sophomore.
Kelley, who competed in the state tournament this past spring for the Demons, defeated Valor Christian’s Izzy Marchino 2 up to advance to the round of 16.
The Carbondale native will look to pull off the upset Tuesday with tee time scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
