GLENWOOD LIONS CLUB FIREKRACKER 4K
The Glenwood Springs Lions Club will host its third annual 4k race, Monday, July 4th, at Two Rivers Park.
The race will start at 8:00 and wind up the Rio Grande trail and back to Two Rivers. All funds will go for vision care and support in the valley.
The race will be the start of a full day of activities, contests, and music concluding with fireworks.

SUPPORT THE GECKOS
Competing in the Mountain West Summer Collegiate Baseball League while playing their home games at Ron Patch Memorial Field in Carbondale, the Glenwood Geckos are looking for sponsorship for the team. Feature 25 players from the NAIA, Junior College and Division III level, the Geckos offer highly entertaining baseball every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with doubleheaders starting at noon. DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Solstice Soirée Disc Golf Tournament hosted by Sunlight Mountain Resort, takes place July 2-3. There will be 100 players from all over Colorado, Utah and Wyoming coming for the camaraderie and Frisbee fun. In addition to competing in the PDGA sanctioned B-tier event, there will be a Putting Challenge, Mini Disc Golf Course, as well as a Throw Down the Mountain Accuracy Competition near the designated area down the ski slope.
COMMUNITY TRACK MEET
The Glenwood Springers’ Track Club will host its annual community track meet, July 6, at Glenwood Springs High School starting at 5 p.m.
The meet will have the 100 meter hurdles as well as the 100, 200, 300, 400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter races. In field events, the Springers will host the high jump, long jump and shot put.
Entry fee for the meet is $10, while the fee for a relay team to compete in the 4×100 meter is $50.

GLENWOOD OPEN TOURNAMENT
The Glenwood Springs Golf Club is accepting entries for this year’s tournament, the Glenwood Open, July 9 and 10. The tournament is open to all amateur players with a current United States Golf Association handicap.
The Glenwood Springs Golf Club is also accepting entries for this year’s LOW AM tournament on July 8.

The Colorado River Valley Charity Series will host its fifth stop of the season July 9 at the Hogback Hustle in New Castle.
The 5K race will start at 8 a.m. in New Castle, with all proceeds benefiting the New Castle Lions Club.

Oregon’s Laurenne Ross and New Castle’s Alice McKennis Duran both announced their retirement in recent days and celebrated together during Saturday’s downhill. McKennis Duran is a local namesake who grew up skiing at Sunlight in Glenwood and formerly trained with the AVSC.
