40th Annual Strawberry Shortcut Races
The 40th annual Strawberry Shortcut 5K and 10K races will be run this Sunday morning as part of Glenwood’s Strawberry Days celebration.
Last year’s Shortcut races marked the final trip over the Grand Avenue Bridge, so runners in both the 5K and 10K will be treated to new courses that blend in a few added twists while still keeping the majority of the old route intact. The 10K will start at 7 a.m. on Ninth Street in downtown Glenwood, with the 5K to follow at 8:15 a.m.
Registration can be done online at strawberryshortcut.com or from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Sunlight Mountain Sports.
All American Volleyball Camp
The All American Volleyball Camp will take place July 6-8 at Coal Ridge High School. Camp is open to incoming sixth- through eighth-graders as well as incoming ninth- through 12th-graders. Camp player/coaches include Janae Vander Ploeg, who played at Northern Arizona University and then overseas in Sweden, and Katelyn Driscoll, who played at Oregon State University and overseas this fall.
The All American Volleyball Camp helps the community by saving the players money while still bringing in a great camp. Cost $159. The camp is not affiliated with Coal Ridge. Email Stacey Ellibee for more information at sellibee@garfieldre2.net or call 970-260-3201.
