Local teams fall short
CARBONDALE Two local adult slow-pitch softball teams earned berths to the Triple Crown Summer Nationals in Steamboat Springs with second-place finishes in a regional qualifying tournament held here this weekend.Rifle Reality lost the Mens E Division championship game against S & C Palos of Las Vegas, Nev., 16-2. The local team advanced to the division championship contest with wins over Surplus City of Grand Junction, Thirstys Sports Pub from Thornton and Silver Fox of Alamosa.Colorado HVAC of Rifle earned a national tournament berth despite a 23-13 loss to Valley Mortgage from Grand Junction in the Womens division championship match.Results of the Coed Division tournament were unavalable at press time.
