Middle Park brings Grand Valley’s football season to an end
PARACHUTE, Colorado – Grand Valley’s football season came to an end with a 21-14 loss to visiting Middle Park in the first round of the 2A state playoffs on Saturday.
Middle Park, the 12th seed in the 16-team playoff bracket, scored a late touchdown to upend the No. 5 Cardinals in Parachute.
Henry Southway’s 2-yard TD run with 3 minutes, 7 seconds left in the game vaulted the Panthers to victory. Middle Park’s game-winning drive spanned 64 yards and ate 5:58 off the clock.
The Panthers (8-2) will face No. 4 Florence (9-1) in the second round. Florence is the defending 2A state champion.
Grand Valley wrapped its season at 8-2.
