Montrose girls soccer downs Rams, 8-1
Molli Gurule tallied four goals to lead Class 4A Montrose to an 8-1 victory over Roaring Fork Tuesday in a nonleague high school girls soccer game.Jenny Brown and Felichia Trujillo added two goals each for Montrose, and Kelli Schwab finished with three assists.Megan Zeigel scored Roaring Fork’s lone goal in the Rams’ season opener.Roaring Fork hosts Vail Mountain today.Zamansky stays perfect in Aspen Times Town Race SeriesCarbondale’s Dave Zamansky remained undefeated in the Aspen Times Town Race Series, taking top honors in the men’s 50-and-older division in last weekend’s giant slalom. With the win, Zamansky wrapped up the season title in the division. Another Carbondale resident, Cindy Lindsay, took third place in the women’s A division.The series ends this weekend with the slalom finale Saturday and Sunday on Thunder Bowl at Aspen Highlands. Experienced and advanced-division racers compete Saturday. Snowboarders, telemarkers and novice skiers race Sunday. Following each day of racing, the traditional end-of-season barbecue will be held at the finish shack, with raffles, free burgers, brats and beer.
