Olathe shuts out Rams, 24-0

The Roaring Fork Rams took to the road, Friday, in search of their third straight win, but the Rams couldn’t find the endzone in their 24-0 loss to the Olathe Pirates.

Trailing 10-0 at halftime thanks to a Pirates safety and a second quarter touchdown and successful 2-point conversion.

Coming out of the half, the Pirates drove the length of the field before missing a field goal. The Rams still couldn’t mount enough to find the endzone in a rather even third quarter.

Following an Olathe fumble deep in Rams territory, Roaring Fork recovered at their own 25-yard line with just over seven minutes to go. Looking to get on the board and close the gap to three, the Rams looked for Aldo Pinela deep twice, but he was unable to come down with the ball on both plays.

Facing a third and 10 in their own territory, the Rams threw a pick to Olathe’s Cody Menzies at the 38-yard line with 6:30 remaining in the game.

From there, the Pirates scored another touchdown to make it 17-0 with just under six minutes left.

Trying to mount a late comeback, Roaring Fork’s Tyler Spence ran the ball all the way to the Olathe 49-yard line. A 15-yard penalty on the play pushed the ball into Pirates territory at the 31-yard line, but the Rams came up short.

Olathe added a long touchdown run with 2:25 to go, sealing the win for the Pirates.

Roaring Fork falls to 2-1 on the season, while Olathe improves to 2-1.
