Pinkham holding on to 40th place

Bill Pinkham kept his spot in 40th place when he reached the Kaltag checkpoint Monday in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.Pinkham pulled into Kaltag at 12:05 p.m. Monday with 11 dogs. As of Monday evening he was still at the checkpoint.Pinkham has now covered 802 miles in the 1,100-mile course. The next checkpoint is Unalakleet, before heading up the coast to Shaktoolik. The race leaders pulled out of Shaktoolik early Monday afternoon.
