Prep basketball: Panthers prevail down stretch vs. Roaring Fork
DELTA — Ben Carpenter finished with a game-high 22 points for Roaring Fork High School’s boys basketball team, but the Delta Panthers hit their foul shots down the stretch on their way to a 51-47 victory on Tuesday night.
Carpenter’s performance included six 3-pointers, and the Class 3A Rams (3-2 overall), who trailed 14-0 in the beginning of the game before rallying to take an eight-point lead at halftime against the Class 4A Panthers (3-3 overall). The Rams led by as many as 10 points in the first half.
Roaring Fork opens Class 3A Western Slope League play on Thursday against Basalt. Delta, which is 0-1 in 4A WSL play following an 82-78 triple-overtime loss at Palisade on Dec. 12, will host Glenwood Springs in the Demons’ league opener on Thursday.

DELTA — Roaring Fork (1-4) wasn’t able to get its offense going against the Panthers (3-3) in its nonleague loss on Tuesday night. No other details were available.
