Prep golf resumes

After a two-week hiatus from tournament play, the Western Slope prep girls golf tour resumes this morning with the 18-hole Wildcat Invitational at Adobe Creek Golf Course in Fruita.

Rifle is the only area team scheduled to compete at this morning’s tournament or at Tuesday’s Palisade Invite at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Grand Junction.

Glenwood Springs, who started strong in tournaments at Tiera Rado Golf Course and Bookcliff Country Club prior to the layoff, will resume play on April 5.

The slate of prep action this week is fairly light due to it being spring break for Glenwood, Basalt and Roaring Fork High Schools.

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Rifle hosts Montrose for a nonleague baseball game at the Bears’ Cooper Field.

On Thursday, Rifle’s girls soccer team hosts Delta County for a Western Slope League contest, then concludes the week with a Saturday WSL home match with Palisade. Also, on Saturday Roaring Fork kicks off their 2004 soccer season with a 6 p.m. game in Carbondale against Aspen.

Prep track and field athletes get their first taste of competition after a couple of weeks off on Saturday when Glenwood, Rifle and Basalt participate in the annual Hotchkiss High School Invitational meet.
