Prep roundup: Class 3A Coal Ridge tops Class 5A GJ Central, 3-0
GRAND JUNCTION — Molly Mello, Allondra Murillo and Jenny Call each scored goals for Coal Ridge High School’s girls soccer team, which won for the seventh time in the past eight games with its 3-0 victory over Class 5A Grand Junction Central on Thursday night at Longs Park.
Mello scored unassisted in the 15th minute, Nicole Mooney assisted Murillo’s goal in the 35th to make it 2-0 at halftime and Call scored off of Mooney’s assist in the 63rd minute for the final score.
Coal Ridge, which moved to 8-3-0 overall with the victory, will play again on April 21 in a Class 3A/2A Western Slope league home game against Basalt.
Aspen 6, Grand Valley 1
ASPEN — Grand Valley’s girls soccer team fell behind 3-0 at halftime and wasn’t able to catch up on its way to a league loss against the Skiers. The Cardinals (2-7-0, 2-3-0 league) will continue league play at Moffat County today.
Glenwood/Delta game postponed
Inclement weather in Delta on Thursday morning prompted the postponement of Thursday’s Class 4A WSL game. No reschedule date has been set.
