OLATHE, Colorado ” With a strong net attack led by Chloe Nelson and Jessica Needham, Coal Ridge kept its volleyball record unblemished with a three-game win at Olathe on Tuesday.

“Olathe’s a really hard place for us to play,” said Titans coach Denise Greene, whose team won by game counts of 25-21, 25-22, 25-17. “I don’t know why. We got out of there in three. It wasn’t our best performance, but we got it done.”

Greene’s team, now 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the 3A Western Slope League, hosts Cedaredge Friday and Hotchkiss Saturday.

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” After taking the first game 25-23, Roaring Fork stumbled to 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14 losses in a volleyball defeat to visiting Paonia on Tuesday.

The Rams, now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the 3A WSL, host Aspen on Thursday before making a trip to Olathe on Friday.

DELTA, Colorado ” Rifle laid the offense on thick in a 16-4 softball win at Delta on Tuesday.

The Bears capitalized on seven Panther errors and used a six-run second inning and five-run third inning to improve to 8-4 overall and to 2-0 in the 4A WSL. Delta is now 6-7 overall and 1-1 in league.

HOTCHKISS, Colorado ” Tak Sasaki scored Colorado Rocky Mountain School’s lone goal in a 4-1 boys soccer loss at Hotchkiss on Tuesday.

The Oysters dropped to 1-2-1, overall and in the 3A WSL, with the loss, while Hotchkiss, which draws players from Delta County schools, improved to 4-0-3 overall and to 2-0-2 in league.
