GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Sam Kaup scored two goals and three other Demons found the net as Glenwood Springs rolled to a 5-2 boys soccer win over visiting Moffat County on Saturday.
The Demons, who improved to 7-2-0 overall and to 5-1-0 in the 4A Western Slope League, held a 4-0 lead by halftime.
Despite the lopsided outcome, Glenwood coach John Mount said his squad could have played better.
“It wasn’t impressive, but we’re happy for the win,” he said. “The guys were a little flat today. We’re really working hard at trying to not play at the level of the other team.”
In addition to Kaup’s two scores, Ryan Young, Travis Whitman and Kevin Hartmann also had goals for the Demons, ranked seventh in Class 4A by RockyPreps.
PEACH VALLEY, Colorado ” Behind 14 kills and four aces from Chloe Nelson, Coal Ridge rolled to a four-game volleyball win over visiting Olathe on Friday.
Jess Needham swatted eight kills for the Titans, while Britney Smith had seven blocks, Sierra Grove had six aces and Kelly Romero had 25 digs.
Coal Ridge, which won by game counts of 25-11, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-15 remained unbeaten in 3A WSL play at 8-0.
