Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

ASPEN, Colorado ” Michelle Stripp’s 84 and Tasha Derby’s 85 helped Glenwood Springs to a second-place finish at Tuesday’s Aspen Invitational girls golf tournament.

The Demons placed second overall and first among Class 4A teams at Aspen Golf Course.

Carrie Keller shot a 98 for the Demons, while Kesley Warkentin carded a 104 and Haley Peterson a 108.



Grand Junction Central’s Loren Forney won the tournament with a 79, while Stripp placed fourth and Derby fifth. Forney and Central won the team title, edging out Glenwood’s 267 by six strokes.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Corey Gera scored a pair of goals as Glenwood Springs rolled to a 6-0 girls soccer win over visiting Palisade on Tuesday.



Michaela Mansfield, Abbe Vincent, Holly Brown and Ariel McNown also scored for the Demons, now 10-1-0. Mansfield also had two assists.

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” Sydney Wright scored three goals and Audrey Asplund chipped in with two as Coal Ridge topped visiting Roaring Fork 9-1 in girls soccer on Tuesday.

Jill Refior, Kourtney Mitchell, Carly Cloninger and Chelsie Ryan also found net for the Titans, who improved to 9-0-1 overall and to 8-0-1 in the 3A Western Slope League.

RIFLE, Colorado ” Mikel Condie scored Rifle’s lone goal in a 2-1 girls soccer loss to Delta on Tuesday.

With the loss, the Bears fell to 4-6.
