RIFLE, Colorado – Second-half goals by Fernando Carreon and Julio Aguirre lifted Rifle back from a 2-0 deficit and to a 2-all tie with visiting Palisade in boys soccer play on Tuesday.
Rifle moved to 0-3-1 overall and to 0-2-1 in the 4A Western Slope League.
CARBONDALE, Colorado – Vail Mountain slipped past Roaring Fork 3-2 in boys soccer play on Tuesday.
Marco Aguliar scored both of the Rams’ goals. The Rams nearly tied it late on a shot that clanged off the post.
Roaring Fork dropped to 2-1, both overall and in 3A WSL (Region 7) play.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Glenwood Springs and Basalt finished in a 1-all boys soccer tie on a soggy Tuesday night in Glenwood.
The teams got in about 50 minutes of play before rain and lightning halted the action. As the game was a non-league tilt, the result will stand as a draw.
Danny Weller scored Glenwood’s goal. Mike McGraw had the assist.
CARBONDALE, Colorado – Monday’s boys soccer game between Colorado Rocky Mountain School was suspended in the first half due to rain. The game will be replayed at 4 p.m. on Sept. 28.
GYPSUM, Colorado – Rifle racked up 11 hits in a 14-0 softball win at Eagle Valley on Tuesday.
Alisha Rodebaugh, Dannan Dueitt and Kacey Caron each had two hits for the Bears, now 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the 4A WSL.
Rodebaugh also pitched a three-hitter for Bears. She struck out seven along the way.
PAONIA, Colorado – Roaring Fork’s volleyball team escaped Paonia with a 25-12, 25-13, 25-20 win over the Eagles on Tuesday.
Landon Garvik led the Rams with 10 kills. Joey Clingan chipped in with seven and also had 17 assists for 6-0 Roaring Fork.
BASALT, Colorado – Basalt held off visiting Coal Ridge 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 in a 3A WSL volleyball match on Tuesday.
The Longhorns improved to 1-3 in league and to 2-5 overall, while the Titans are now 2-2 in league and 2-3 overall.
ASPEN, Colorado – Arick Zeigel carded an 85 to pace Roaring Fork at Tuesday’s Aspen Invitational boys golf tournament.
Zeigel and the Rams finished ninth overall at Aspen Golf Course.
Dejon Elmer led Coal Ridge, which finished 10th, with a 104.
